Free College Picks: Week 12
By Ron Jumper

Wow, what a weekend of college football ahead of us. With Ohio State-Michigan, Cal-USC, and plenty of other games to peak your interest this weekend, I don’t know how you couldn’t be glued to your seat all day Saturday. Last week was an interesting week, I went 3-1-1 based on the lines I put up but the lines all moved in our favor as the week progressed so it was very likely you went 5-0 if you placed your bets Friday or Saturday. That being said, don’t wait last minute to make your bets every weekend because that also works both ways.

Iowa (+3) cover vs. Minnesota

Yes, Iowa has been playing poorly. Yes, this season has been a huge disappointment for the Hawkeyes. However, expect Drew Tate to lead them to victory over an even worse Golden Gophers team. Tate has had a great career at Iowa and I just can’t see him not finishing the regular season with a victory. Iowa 27-20

Tennessee (-8.5) covers vs. Vanderbilt

This one is simple. The Vols are the superior team and they want to avenge last year’s ugly home loss. Vanderbilt is better than normal but they are still not anywhere near the talent level of Tennessee. Vols 31-10

Florida State (-16) covers vs. Western Michigan

Don’t get me wrong, I like this Western Michigan team. They really aren’t a bad team, especially in the MAC. The problem is simple though, Florida State has to win this game and win it big. With the Seminoles sputtering, a close game against a MAC school would be the last thing they need. Seminoles 42-17

Ohio State (-6.5) covers vs. Michigan

The speed of the Ohio State defense will make it very tough on Mike Hart, as well as make Matt Henne run for his life all day. The fact that Ohio State has balance on offense gives them a huge edge in this game, they can run the ball against the Wolverines and I promise Ted Ginn Jr. will have at least one catch that goes for 40+ yards. Expect Troy Smith to give all the voters reassurance as to why he is the top Heisman candidate. I love Michigan and think they’ve had an impressive year, but this is the Buckeye’s year. Ohio State 31-21

Risk $22 to Win $20

USC covers vs. Cal

The Trojan’s loss to Oregon State must have woke them up. They seem to be back to doing the little things and have come back to the reality that they can lose if they don’t bring it. Cal has all the weapons on offense, I just don’t think they have the quarterback to get the most out of them. USC 38-28

Risk $22 to Win $20
