Fantasy Rundown: Week 3
Has The World Gone Mad?
By Ric Atkinson

Which is crazier?

A) Houston, Green Bay, Detroit, Washington and San Francisco are a combined 10 – 0.

B) Fantasy Owners are starting to wonder if drafting Stephen Jackson is going to kill their teams.

C) LaDainian Tomlinson has touched the ball eight times less than Edgerrin James so far this year.

D) Chris Chambers has been thrown to more than any receiver in the league.

E) Cleveland’s starting QB threw 5 TD passes in one game and had a 101.3 passer rating.

Before you get too worried that we have somehow slipped in to Fantasy Bizzaro World, remember:

A) Peyton Manning is leading the NFL in passing yards.
B) The Colts and Patriots are both 2-0.
C) Pittsburg leads the league in scoring defense.
D) Chad Johnson leads the league in receiving yardage.
E) Steve Smith leads all wide receivers with five touchdowns.

So, let’s take what we’ve learned in the first two weeks and apply it to some week #3 games.

Buffalo at New England:
Anyone wearing a Patriot jersey is a good play in this game. Brady, Moss, Maroney, Ben Watson, Gostkowski, Patriots defense….Play them all.

Cincinnati at Seattle:
If Cleveland can destroy the Bengal’s defense, Seattle surely can. Look for big points for everyone involved in this game. Play Palmer, Ocho-cinco, Houzurmama, Rudi Johnson, Graham, Alexander, and Hasselbeck. I would avoid both D/ST in this game.

Giants at Washington:
The Giants are in big trouble. Look for good numbers from Portis, Randle El, Moss, and Cooley.

Chargers at Green Bay:
LT is going to start being LT, but I’m not sure this is the week it will happen. Green Bay’s defense is very solid and could give the Chargers struggling offense some trouble.

Vikings at Kansas City:
Looks like another tough game for Larry Johnson. Peterson and the Viking’s D/ST should be great plays in this game.

Sleepers Of The Week:
Owen Daniels TE Houston
Jacoby Jones WR Houston
Dallas D/ST
Jason Avant WR Eagles
Amani Toomer WR NY Giants

Let’s check the old mail bag:

James in Little Rock asked:
“Before the season, the question was LJ or Steven Jackson. Is the right answer none of the above?”

When all is said and done, both guys are going to have big seasons. In fact I’d be looking to trade for either one of those guys right now. Their perceived value is at it’s lowest point, so maybe you can steal one of them from a panic stricken owner.

Paul in St. Louis wrote:
“I drafted Lee Evans, would it be smarter to keep him or try to get some value back in a trade?”

Hang on to him. Like LJ or Jackson his value is at it’s lowest. You would be selling him at his lowest point.

Greg in Sacrament e-mailed this question:
“Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow have been perennial underachievers, should I buy into a breakout season?”

I’m not sold on Edwards, but I really like Winslow. If his knee holds up he may end up being the 2nd best fantasy TE this year. That’s a valuable asset to have on any fantasy team.

OJ in Las Vegas asked:
“Give me back my sports memorabilia”

Like I told you before, I don’t have any of your sports memorabilia, and that’s not even a question.

That’s about it for this week. Good Luck and remember “Always start you studs.”
