Fantasy Football: Making Your Playoff Run
By Ric Atkinson

So, you’ve played your way into your league's fantasy playoffs. What now? Is there any players on your waiver wire that might help. Is there a defense that could be a difference-maker? Any sleeper tight end that could put you over the top? Which skill position players have good playoff matchups? Well, let’s figure it all out.

If you can get your hands on the Vikings defense you need to. Their playoff matchups are about as good as they can get.
Week 14: @ 49ers
Week 15: vs the Bears
Week 16: vs Washington
Week 17: @ Denver.

The Vikings do give up a lot of passing yards, but they also get a ton of turnovers, and have turned several of them in to scores.

Denver also has some good playoffs matchups.
Week 14: vs Chiefs
Week 15: @ Houston
Week 16: @ San Diego
Week 17: vs the Vikings

With Cleveland you get a great kick returner in Josh Cribbs but you also get some good playoff matchups
Week 14: @ the Jets
Week 15: vs the Bills
Week 16: @ the Bengals
Week 17: vs the 49ers

So you used a high draft pick on Drew Brees or Marquis Colston and their inconsistent play has driven you nuts all season. Well, playoff time is when your patients will be rewarded. Week 14 the Saints get the Falcons, and in week 15 they go to Arizona. Look for very good numbers from both of these guys in those weeks.

I don’t know if you noticed yet, but the Patriots are pretty good. They also have a lot of fantasy studs and some good playoff matchups. Week 14 might be tough when Pittsburg comes to town, but after that they get the Jets, Dolphins, and Giants. Look for big numbers from Moss, Brady, Welker, the D/ST, and, if he gets in the games, Maroney.

Kolby Smith looked good against the Raiders weak run defense and it looks like he will be the starter the rest of the year for the Chiefs. With playoff matchups against Denver, Detroit, and the Jets, he might be a waiver wire pickup that could really help your team.

Nobody seems to have noticed but Tampa Bay is looking very solid, and their schedule for the rest of the year will make them look even better. Matchups with Houston, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Carolina makes Galloway, Graham, and D/ST look like great plays.

If you used the first pick in your draft to get LaDainian Tomlinson you are going to love his playoff matchups in week 15 (Detroit), 16 (Denver), and 17 (Oakland).

Bret Favre and the Packers should continue their great run with an upcoming schedule of Oakland, St Louis, Chicago, and Detroit. Ryan Grant should also put up good fantasy numbers against that schedule.

So there you have it. My tips for a great playoff run. Hope it helps. But I do want to add a bit of a disclaimer. The worst thing you can do is over think your playoff lineups. Remember: Always start your studs.
